Hi, I've been teaching secondary English for nearly 20 years and have experience of OCR, AQA and WJEC GCSEs in Language and Literature. I have also taught GCSE Film Studies. I actually really enjoy creating new resources with a particular focus on creativity and engaging learners as much as I can in an enjoyment of English as well as making progress.

An activity focusing on the language of the prologue and an accompanying powerpoint. Learners are given a list of keywords from the prologue and the prologue itself, and are firstly asked to define them from their own knowledge. Then they watch a video clip of it being read aloud and can change their definition if they want. Thirdly, they look at a modern translation and can alter their definition again. The powerpoint also has further activities based on the prologue, its purpose and effect.

A lovely lesson looking at Scrooge's character at the beginning of the novel, identifying quotations and developing PEE paragraphs. Learners use PEE to build a paper-chain of Scrooge's bad deeds similar to Marley's Ghost's chain in the novel, which can then be used as a classroom display and referred to as part of revision work.
